Eyelid Surgery
As we age, the soft tissues in our eyelids can weaken or thin. This can result in drooping eyelids, loose eyelids, puffy bags around the eyes, and many other conditions of cosmetic and functional concern. Eyelid surgery can correct saggy overhanging skin in the upper lids, droopy sleepy looking upper lids, and puffy bags below your eyes .
About the Procedure
Your surgeon will work with you to identify “problem areas” and mark your eyelids with a surgical pen to delineate the skin that will be removed and the location of the incisions. The incisions generally fall within the creases of your upper lids and just below your lashes on your lower lids.
Surgery is typically performed in one to three hours under local or monitored sedation anesthesia, or general anesthesia when necessary. As a result of the procedure, patients generally look more alert and refreshed after eyelid surgery. Although the aging process continues, the results typically last for many years.
