Three elevation renderings of Vistar Eye Center's planned location at Daleville Town Center

The Botetourt County Board of Supervisors has approved the proposed use for a new Vistar Eye Center facility in Daleville Town Center. Vistar now plans to move forward with the property acquisition, currently expected to close in October.

For some time, Vistar Eye Center has been exploring opportunities to expand our facilities in Botetourt County. Our current nearby location has served the community well, but it does not provide the space needed to expand care and support future patient needs.

The new facility would improve local access to comprehensive and specialty eye care in a space designed to serve patients now and in the future.

The new facility is expected to expand Vistar’s ability to provide comprehensive and specialty eye care, including routine and comprehensive eye examinations, cataract care, retina care, glaucoma treatment, advanced diagnostic testing, and ongoing medical and surgical eye care. A purpose-designed facility would also provide additional clinical space, greater capacity for physicians and clinical teams, improved accessibility and parking, and appropriate space for advanced technology to support patient care.

We understand that many residents have questions about the pace of growth in the area and want accurate and timely information about decisions that affect their community. Because this involved a private real estate transaction, we were limited in what we could share while discussions were underway. That confidentiality did not replace or bypass the county’s required planning, zoning, public-hearing, or approval processes. Now that approval has been received, we are committed to sharing confirmed information and communicating openly as the project moves forward.

We also recognize the importance of the farmers market to local residents, growers, and vendors. The market currently operates through an annual agreement with the existing property owner. The current property owner has offered an alternative location for the 2027 season while the market considers its plans.

We hope the property owner, the market, and the county can work together to identify a constructive path forward. Vistar supports those efforts and is committed to being a good community partner as those plans progress.

We look forward to sharing additional updates as plans for the new facility continue to move forward.
