Roanoke — Airport Road and Roanoke — Franklin RoadDr. Kevin Lowder specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, where he served as Student Government Class President. He completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville, where he received the Educational Excellence Award.
Dr. Kevin Lowder grew up in Concord, California, in the East San Francisco Bay Area. His sibling’s experience with microphthalmos sparked an early appreciation for the gift of sight and inspired him to pursue a career in eye care. After participating in a high school service project that supported cataract surgeries overseas, he knew ophthalmology—and restoring vision through surgery—was his calling.
For the past five years, Dr. Lowder has performed high-volume cataract and laser procedures (YAG and SLT), finding joy in every patient’s renewed vision. His philosophy is simple: treat every patient like family—with care, respect, and a commitment to the best possible outcome.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Lowder enjoys watching and quoting movies with his wife and kids, playing sports in the backyard, and indulging his love of Dungeons & Dragons with friends and family.
