Meet Jennifer Coben, M.D.

What caused you to want to get into Ophthalmology?

Dr. Coben grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and was drawn to ophthalmology by the unique blend of surgery, clinical care, and rapidly evolving technology. She finds the most rewarding aspect of her work to be the ability to offer patients definitive solutions—whether it’s restoring their vision or preventing further loss.

She has had the privilege of serving a rural population in upstate New York, where she was one of the few cataract surgeons and the only glaucoma specialist within a large hospital network. That experience reinforced her belief in the importance of accessible, comprehensive care.

Dr. Coben’s philosophy is simple: patients deserve to fully understand their condition and treatment options. She believes in forming a true partnership with her patients—one built on trust, education, and shared decision-making. She strives to treat every patient the way she would treat a member of her own family.

What interests do you hold outside of work?

Outside of work, Dr. Coben enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors whenever possible.
