In October, Vistar completed the purchase of property in Daleville Town Center for a new facility that will improve local access to comprehensive and specialty eye care. As planning continues, we want to keep the community informed and share clear, accurate information about the project.

For some time, Vistar Eye Center has been working to expand our facilities in Botetourt County. Our current location has served the community well, but it does not provide the space needed to expand care and support future patient needs.

Expanding Eye Care in Botetourt County

Daleville Town Center Eye Care Center

The new facility is being designed to support a broad range of eye care services, from routine and comprehensive eye examinations to advanced specialty medical and surgical care.

The plans reviewed through Botetourt County’s public approval process describe a two-story vision care center of with 22 exam rooms. Those rooms support different stages of patient care, including examinations, testing, dilation and treatment, and provide the additional clinical space needed to support physicians, care teams and advanced technology.

The goal is simple: provide more comprehensive and specialty eye care locally in a facility designed to meet the needs of patients today and into the future.

The property is part of the long-established Daleville Town Center development plan, originally approved in 2005. Medical care facilities were contemplated as an appropriate potential use within the original Town Center planning framework. The proposed facility also moved through Botetourt County’s established planning, zoning, public-hearing and approval processes.

As part of the county review, the project was also evaluated for its impact on the surrounding area. The proposed use is expected to generate traffic similar to or less than other permitted commercial uses within Daleville Town Center, and the development will connect to existing public water and sewer infrastructure that was planned to support the Town Center’s full buildout.

Farmers Market

We also recognize the importance of the farmer’s market to local residents, growers, and vendors. The market currently operates through an annual agreement with the previous property owner, who has offered an alternate location for the 2027 season while the market considers its plans. Vistar supports the efforts of the previous property owner, the farmers market, and Botetourt County to work towards a constructive solution

What Comes Next

With the property purchase complete, Vistar is continuing with facility design and the remaining site-development, permitting and construction-planning requirements.

We are excited about the opportunity to expand comprehensive and specialty eye care in Botetourt County and will continue to share confirmed information as the project moves forward.
