Premium IOL Options

If you are nearing the age for cataract surgery and want a reliable vision correction solution, premium lens implants could be a suitable option. These lens implants are also referred to as “lifestyle lens implants” because they can provide excellent vision, sometimes without the need for glasses. These new implants can offer a wide spectrum of vision including near, intermediate and far vision.

Before determining if these premium lens implants are right for you, it is important to discuss your lens implant options with your cataract surgeon:

  • Multifocal IOL lens implants are designed to help reduce the need for glasses at all distances.
  • Astigmatism-correcting lens implants are a unique type of lens implant that is used to correct astigmatism. If a cataract patient has astigmatism and has aspirations to be glasses-free after surgery, the astigmatism-correcting lens implant is a good option.
  • Basic Monofocal lens implants are designed to reduce cloudiness. With this lens implant, glasses may be required at all distances.
  • RxSight™ Light Adjustable Lens implants are the first and onlyintraocular lens (IOL) that can be customized after cataract surgery. The Light Adjustable Lens is made of a special photosensitive material that can be adjusted in response toultraviolet (UV) light. This optimization is done by your eye doctor in the weeks following lens implantation through a series of non-invasive light treatments that take only a few minutes each. You will have the unique ability to adjust and preview your vision until it meets your personal desires and lifestyle requirements. Learn more here.

Your surgeon will discuss which option will best meet your lifestyle needs.

Laser Cataract Surgery

Many of the steps of cataract surgery that are traditionally performed using handheld instruments can now be completed using the precision of a laser. This enables your surgeon to create a tailored treatment plan that helps meet your goals for vision.

Your surgeon can create laser-precise incisions to reduce astigmatism as well as to create a circular opening in the lens capsule to access and remove the cataract. Using the laser system, your surgeon can soften the hard cataract enabling the cataract to be gently removed.

How does it work and what are the steps?

Every eye has a unique size and shape. The CATALYS™ advanced 3D imaging technology builds a 3D map of each eye and tailors the treatment to that map. This enables the Vistar Eye Center surgeons to create a customized treatment plan that matches the uniqueness of each eye.

Next, Vistar Eye Center surgeons use CATALYS™ to create a circular opening for accessing and removing the cataract. Clinical studies have shown that this opening is approximately 10 times more accurate when performed with CATALYS™ than what is achievable by hand. CATALYS™ then softens and breaks up the hard cataract into tiny pieces, allowing for gentler, easier cataract removal. These steps set the stage for positioning of the replacement lens.
