Choosing a new pair of eye glasses is an important and—perhaps—a surprisingly complicated decision. It can be like visiting the new car showroom: there are always many new models and options to choose from.

  • Prescription. Lens thickness and size become factors when you have a strong prescription or need multi-focal lenses. Our opticians can tell you how your prescription will work with a particular frame.
  • Purpose. When will you be wearing your glasses? For reading? For sports? For driving? It’s important to select glasses that will do the job. Larger lenses can increase the eye ease of photochromic lenses such as Transitions. For strong frames, look to brands which emphasize durability, such as Nike.
  • Style. Is this your first or last consideration? It’s great to come to your appointment with some idea of the frame and lens looks you prefer. Our assistants are also skilled at recommending the most flattering choices.
  • Colors and materials. You can narrow down your choices by considering whether you’d prefer a metal, plastic, combination or frameless pair of glasses. You can also think about whether warm or cool colors go best with your skin and hair tones.
  • The unseen. You will also have choices that otherwise go unnoticed, such as thinning, scratch-protection coating and UV protection.

The staff at Vistar Eye Center will lead you through your options and can help you make lens and frame choices that will suit your individual vision needs. Need a new pair of eye glasses? Call us for an appointment.
